First Dance Panic!

Stuck for choice?

How to choose your First Dance song! Phase 1.

When it comes to choosing your first dance song, there isn’t really a right or wrong choice.

Ok, yes there are a few inappropriate songs out there but generally you can’t go wrong, especially if its special to the two of you. Essentially you should choose something that you both like or have a special connection with.

Not too long ago, choosing a song seemed much simpler, you picked a song that you had heard on the radio, or had both loved when listening to a cassette or LP!!! (Some of you may not know what these are) Now, it seems hours are spent on iTunes, Spotify, Youtube looking for that perfect version of your perfect song. Then we decide we want to add a song or we decide we want more than one song so we cut and edit, mash-up and mix all in the hope of creating the best first dance song ever!

The important thing is...There is no right or wrong! Whatever you choose will be perfect for you!

So Phase 1 of planning your first dance consists of choosing 'the song'. If you are at the stage of 'haven't got a clue' here are some first dance layout options-

  • You can have one beautiful song!

  • Each pick a song so your first dance consists of 2 songs segued into each other.

  • Start with a ballad, a slower meaningful song and edit it into an upbeat track as guests join you on the dance floor

  • Start with a slow ballad, edit into an upbeat track you both love and segue into the disco track where your guests can join you.

  • A mash-up- A montage of all your favourites.

  • Live music- Have your favourite song played live
